We took our engagement photos on Monday and we got the CD yesterday. Our photographer was great and all of the pictures look great! Here are a few of my favorites. (in my defense there were 177 pictures so this many favorites actually is narrowing it down :)

Yahtzee!

I have Triple Yahtzee on my desktop widgets. It's my new vice. Since i discovered it 3 days ago i know i have played it much more than i should have. When work is boring it's easy to do and enjoy :) And it's so fulfilling to get that Yahtzee! Who knew games of chance could be so fun! My coworker thinks I'm crazy and cracks up every time i call "Yahtzee". I'm OK with it!

The countdown begins......

7 Days until I'm under the knife! Ahhhhhhh kind of freaking out!!!!

DI and Peaches

DI peed on me. (this is for Amy by the way). We went to DI last weekend to shop around. I found a few cute shirts and a couple skirts that i liked so i went to try them on in the dressing room. For those of you who don't know, DI is like Goodwill. It's pretty ghetto but fun every now and again. So I'm in the dressing room trying things on and this little girl crawls under my door and stares at me. I asked her, semi-nicely, to leave and she didn't so then i told her to really get out. What the heck, right?! People need to keep their kids out of dressing rooms. After that i proceeded to try on the shirts and skirts i found. I picked one that was cute and then got dressed again to go out and pay. I put on my pants and there was a huge water mark on the thigh. I thought 'what the heck' and tried to figure out what it was and where it had come from. It came from a puddle on the ground, gross huh? I smelled it and Amy did too and it wasn't pee! Thankfully, i would have been so done if it had been. But sick huh? the DI peed on me! Be careful when shopping at thrift stores, you never know what you'll find.

In happier news, a cute old man gave me peaches last night. I was walking to a different apartment complex and this man asked me if i was a BYU student and then asked if i wanted a peach. He and his wife were about to leave town and they had a few boxes of peaches and unloaded a few on me. So i got peaches. They're pretty good. Sweet old man. That's what you get for going to the Brigham's Young's University!

People are good!

I had a nice "people are good, the world is good" moment the other day...

After the trip to Colorado, more than a month ago, my car started rattling/jingling near the muffler area. I wasn't too worried because it didn't sound like the muffler just something down there. I had my dad look at it while he was here and he said that it just looks like something is loose and that i should get it checked out.

Since then i keep meaning to get it checked out but it doesn't happen. (David and i even went to Meineke once to try but it was out of business :) I've just been putting it off because I'm always at work and by the time i get home the places are closed and who wants to go on Saturday :) Well the other day i was pretty bored at work so i looked up someplace online and called to see when i could come by and get it looked at. The guy said he could look at it later that day so i left work early to head down there. The guy was so nice. He looked under the car while i gave it some gas it and said that something was rattling that wasn't connected to anything else (aka not important) so he just clipped it off. Then he said "ok, you're good to go. if you ever need a muffler..." He didn't charge me anything he just helped me out. People are good! So now i have a car that doesn't rattle anymore yay! So there's my plug for Quality Mufflers in Provo.

More and More excitement!

David and met with our photographer yesterday. We are getting our engagement pictures taken next Monday because i wanted fall pictures and after the surgery i won't be great for picture taking. I'm so excited! I like our photographer and think the pictures will turn out great! So look for a post with some of those within a couple of weeks.

In other, very much less exciting, news i just finished a completely pointless assignment for my sociology class that took almost 3 hours! My professor wanted us to diagram an article, identifying all the parts and all that. Yeah it took forever! The worst part is that this is a 400 level sociology class and my last sociology class for my major. My philosophy about this "teaching the basics" stuff is that if you haven't learned it yet you're out of luck. The "basics" should be taught in the lower level classes. Don't waste my time with pointless assignments. Ok so I'm done venting.

Other than that the whole work/school thing hasn't been to hard on me. It's nice to have the weekend from classes on Wednesday and only have to worry about work the last couple days of the week. I will definitely enjoy just having work and no more school after this year, that will be nice.

Last bit of news: I got my surgery packet in the mail Monday. It was so general that it was completely useless. My surgery is a pretty simple one but my packet was explaining things for people who are having full hip replacements and stuff like that. The packet said that I'll be in the hospital for 3-4 days so i had to call the nurse and clear that up. I'll be staying overnight in the hospital and then I'll leave in the morning. I'm assuming that I'll have a 75 year old roommate who got a total hip replacement. Good times. :)

I'm pretty lucky that i have the best friends ever! Carebear is going to drive me up and wait until the surgery is over and hang around with me for a while then Sukie is going to come and stay with me for a while too! It's going to suck but at least i have good friends!

April 28, 2009...

Is the day that David and I are getting married!!! Yay! We'll be getting married in the Manti LDS temple.

He proposed Saturday afternoon. He had been telling me the whole week that we had to do something this weekend, a "surprise". I definitely knew that the surprise was the proposal and of course i was super excited. So Saturday after we got back from Frikathon i went to take a shower and he got everything ready (well tried to get it ready). He found and downloaded the first movie we ever watched together my freshman year, a french movie. The problem was that it didn't work on the PS3 and he didn't have any DVD's to burn it onto. So he told me that the surprise would have to wait until Sunday. I was pretty disappointed but just accepted it. One more day wouldn't hurt me.

We were just sitting on the couch watching a different movie and talking and then (as he says) he had a brilliant idea. He asked me to help him put the hinges on the wooden chest that someone (can't remember exactly who mom 2 or carebear) got him so that it would open and close well. I helped him out with that then he had me open the chest (this is when i realized that the ring was inside, before that i had no clue). When i opened the chest i saw the ring box sitting in the middle.

Then he took it out and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes! Then we called Moms and lots of other family and friends. We convinced Wudan and Sukie to come down and we played games and made toasts to celebrate. It was a great day!

The prettiest ring!

Ring on my hand!

Sorry the pictures aren't better, it's hard to take pictures of a ring.

It's been so fun the past couple of days showing the ring off and telling the news to everyone! I'm so a newly engaged girl, i just can't stop staring at the ring and watching it sparkle. In my defense though, David stares at it quite a bit too!

The Domestic Adventures of....Sarah and David

David stirring our salsa, He's so cute!

I've really been wanting to do some canning. Don't ask me why but it has just seemed like a fun, productive, and easy thing to do. Turns out I was right! Canning is so much fun! It's my new favorite hobby and an awesome date! I know i sound like a complete dork but I'm ok with it. For any of you boys that are thinking "poor David, Sarah made him do this" I want you to know that he thought it was awesome too!

The end result of our amazing salsa!

The first thing we tried out was homemade salsa. Totally useful and so yummy! Back when i was in Young Women's (church program for girls 12-18) one of our leaders taught us how to can salsa. It was so easy! It only took a couple of hours start to finish and now we have great salsa! We gave some to Sukie and Carebear and had some for ourselves too! It turned out pretty mild but we will definitely be making more pretty soon so we can make it spicier. It was fun to make and have and almost more fun to give away.

De-pitting the plums

Yesterday we canned some plum jam! For anyone who doesn't know (which is probably most everyone who reads this) there are tons of plum trees on campus. The university doesn't do anything with the plums, they just fall on the ground and rot if no one eats them. We've been enjoying them on the way home from school for the past few weeks and now they are really ripe, perfect for jam! We picked a big bag full and brought them over to Carebear's to can (she has bigger pots than we do, the perks of being married :) The most tedious part of the canning process was getting the pits out of the plums. We didn't figure out a better way to do it than just rolling up our sleeves and doing it by had so we got all juicy. It was fun though!

Cute Alice

At least we had cute company while we were de-pitting! We gave Alice a plum in her little mesh Binky thing and she loved it! She sucked it dry and then wanted another. She also got all sticky from the juicy plums.

Domestica!

After we got all of the pits out we added lemon juice, water, and lots of sugar and boiled it all on the stove. Then we added some fruit pectin and cinnamon. After all of the boiling was done we poured it into jars. It made 6 pint size jars! Yay!

Then we put the jars in a "boiling bath" for 10 minutes to get them all sealed up! All of the jars sealed well and now we have a bunch of plum jam! We left a couple of jars with Carebear and we'll be giving some more away and i love it! I feel so domestic! Haha!

Our Finished Product!

I'm really excited to try the Jam! Actually it didn't Jell super well so it's more like syrup but that will be great on pancakes and we could still use it on bread or rolls so it's a win-win :) Like i said earlier, i think I'm addicted to canning! Carebear and i are already planning future canning projects like pickles, more salsa, and tomato sauce. I'm also really looking forward to having a garden and some fruit trees so that I can can a lot of stuff! Yup, I'm addicted but it's a healthy addiction right? Especially since it's so easy and productive. I thought that canning would be harder or take more time but it doesn't! Ok now i just sound like an infomercial so I'll stop. If anyone wants to can with me or wants the recipes let me know!

I'm a flip-flopper.

Well it's official, I'm getting surgery (for real this time). I've given it a few weeks and i realized that my hip is getting more uncomfortable. It's not too bad, definitely not unbearable, but I'm sick of dealing with it. Also, i can't do everything that i want to do. I'm tired of not being able to push myself when I'm climbing. I'm just tired of having to be a pansy. So i decided that I'm just going to do the surgery and get it over with now rather than later. It will be good to get it all out of the way before the wedding.

I have an appointment for September 30th to get the surgery. It's not the huge crazy surgery so my recovery time should be much less. When i went to see the 2nd opinion doctor last month he told me that i should only be on crutches for a couple weeks and i should be all back to normal within 2-3 months. That means that i won't be on crutches in the snow and ice, and i should be good to go by the end of the year! Sounds great to me!

So as of September 30th I'm out for a little while but i should be fixed! Yay! I'm taking off the rest of that week and hopefully i can get back to work and school by the next Monday. It should be a nice little (doped-up, pain-filled) vacation. But it should be good. i think I'll stay with Carolyn (you're the best!) for a few days before I'm on my own. It should be a fun little adventure!

I'll be getting my surgery packet pretty soon so I'm sure I'll have more fun details in the coming weeks.

Other fun stuff....we're getting our engagement photos taken before my surgery in a couple weeks so that will be fun! I'm super excited for that! I wanted to get the fall colors but i can't really do that with the surgery and all that so we're doing it before the surgery. Also, my mom reserved a place for the Michigan reception thing! Yay! It's at a park in the country, near where my dad grew up. There is a stone cabin there and we got that for the reception. I think it will be really nice! I'm excited!

Ok well enough of that exciting stuff! Soon to come: a post about the Canning Adventures David and I have been having! We're so domestic :)

Let Down

The first week of school was a let down but a pleasant one. Everything went very smoothly and there were very few and minor problems as far as my job went. Yesterday i was bored because there was nothing to do. Welcome Fall! I'm glad that i have classes so that i can at least do some homework during my down time(nearly all the time) at work.

As far as classes go, mine went fine. In one we have a long research paper but it's a group paper so i should only have to write a few pages of the 12-15 that are required. I think that the classes will be interesting, fun and not too much work at all. I hope that it will be a great semester.

Another year has begun...a school year that is.

Today was the first day of school and the true test of whether i have this job figured out or not. So far so good :) It has definitely been a busy day but nothing that i couldn't handle. No big disasters so far. Only 3 days to go and then the dreaded 1st week will be behind me.

Along with the first day of school come the students, and many freshman!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!! I haven't had any encounters yet mostly because i'm hiding in my office. I'm ok dodging the freshman!

In other news, the weather has cooled down a lot. We had a nice rain storm and the next morning there was snow in the mountains and it was cool enough to wear a sweatshirt all day! Yay for fall I love it!

The long weekend was nice and relaxing. Nothing too exciting happened but it was nice to just relax and not worry about having to be at work yesterday.

I have both of my classes for the first time tomorrow. That will be exciting i guess. Mostly i hope that i'll find out that they aren't going to kick my butt and that this semester will be fun and interesting. We'll see
