Babysitting

Like i said, I babysat Alice on Tuesday. Carolyn was having her wisdom teeth out and couldn't take care of her so she thought it would be easier for her and Alice if they just didn't see each other for the day. so David and i took her and played house for the day. It was fun.



We took her to devotional and then she was ready for her nap. She even fell asleep in the car. Sadly she was terrified of my bedroom, where her port-a-crib was set up, so she didn't go back to sleep until i bounced her and let her sleep on my chest. After that she slept fine.



After her nap we went on a little excursion. We picked up our sign in book from our photographer. It's so cute! Then we went and walked around some shops with Alice. We had a fun time. She hated the sun in her eyes in the car so David let her borrow his sunglasses.



After our outing Alice took another nap, this time on the couch. She slept pretty well.



After her nap she had a blast playing with David.



Then we ate dinner and then went back to Alice's house to have a bath and put her to sleep since she wasn't going to sleep well in my room. She did really well the whole time and is getting more independent i guess. We had a great time with her! Our friends predicted that the day would either be a big birth control pill or would just make me super baby hungry. The report: Neither. Alice was just her normal self so it wasn't too bad. I'm not super baby hungry either.

The only big realization that i had happened the next morning when my entire body was sore from holding her and bouncing her. I hurt. Sadly, in addition to the funny muscle soreness, i also am having some hip pain. Not cool! Nothing super bad, I'm just sore but it makes me really think about how physically able (or not) i will be to actually have and take care of kids without needing a hip replacement after the first one. Oh well, i guess I'll figure it out when it gets here.

I survived....

Babysitting Alice all day. But that's a story for a different post. (Probably tomorrow, with pictures.)

I was talking with my coworker today when we heard our boss outside. We both just looked at each other and rolled our eyes about whatever it was she was saying. Then we pondered the question: "Are all jobs like this? Is this really what we have to look forward to for the next 40+ years? Or is it possible that maybe, just maybe, not all bosses are like ours and not all workplaces are like ours? Is there hope for us or are we destined to someday become the loathed bosses ourselves?" Very deep thoughts. Really though, i wonder sometimes. My job is not horrible by any stretch of the imagination but it could be better. I suppose all jobs could be. Oh well. Just the deep, contemplative thought of the day :)

P.S. Happy 3 month Preniversary :) David brought me flowers with the best note ever!!! I love him!!!

And you thought mormons were conservative....

Watched a Duggar wedding last night on TLC with David. Interesting.

So this family has 18 kids, yes 18, all birthed by the same woman, all have the same father. Crazy huh? They seem like a pretty nice family. Super conservative, very religious, home schooled, special. Not necessarily in a bad way, but definitely special.

Their oldest son got married on TV last night. The son is 20, don't know how old the bride was. So here's a little background... they believe in traditional courtship. Like ask the father before even dating, traditional. Once they got engaged they were excited because they had permission to hold hands. They couldn't go anywhere without a chaperon, even in public in broad daylight. And here's the kicker, they aren't kissing until they are married.

Admirable i suppose. I shouldn't knock it. But as the wedding approached they were talking about how they were excited for the first kiss and how they had talked about it a little bit. OK I'm sorry but if you're getting married you need to be aware that more than just a kiss is going to happen. For real people! Talk about a shocker come wedding night!

So purity is great. naivete, however, is a whole different thing.

I learned that today from a little freshman Biology presentation. Thank you, i feel so enlightened!

Haha, so apparently it takes a special boy to be with me :) That's OK because she said it'll take a special boy to be with her too :) Haha! Girls are so complex.

Double digits!

YUP that's right, double digits. Less than 100 days until we get married. So exciting!

Things are coming together with all of the wedding planning. We found an apartment which we thought was going to be the hardest thing but worked out great! One of my friends from home is moving back to Michigan with her husband and daughter after she graduates, which happens to be just about the same time we're getting married so it's going to work out great!!! We're very excited to get that off the list of things to do.

Other than that we've just been planning, planning, planning. Things are coming together and the stress comes and goes but we're dealing with it. (Mostly me, David doesn't get stressed really :)

All i can really say is I'll be happy when all of the celebration is over and we can get settled into real life. That will be the day.

Check please?!

So I ordered checks today. It was one of those, i moved my checks so i could find them easier and i lost them, things. So i had to order new ones.

No big deal right, just order them online. Yeah i tried that and got this error message, it's been more then 2 years since you last ordered check so you'll have to call your bank. What, who orders check more than once every 2 years? they send 150 and i use checks maybe twice a month so that's 6 and 1/4 years for me to use up those checks! Whatever.

So i call my bank. I wait on the line for 5 minutes and get hung up on. I call back and finally get through and i talk to the first person. I give her my account information. She asks, who do you bank with. I tell her my bank. She says, well your account isn't coming up. Ok I've banked with this bank for 5 1/2 years now?! She finally gets my information to come up and asks what i need. Checks. Oh well i have to transfer you to a specialist.

Second person, the specialist, asks what i need. Checks. Well it doesn't look like you've ordered checks with us before. Yes but it was 4 years ago. OK well I'll have to transfer you to another specialist. Fine.

Next specialist, so you need checks. Yes. What type would you like? The simplest thing you have. More random questions.... colors we have.... I say yes to the first color she says. So after waiting for the confirmation number and all that crap i finally get off the phone and pick up the call from my boss. Did i not mention she was on hold on the other line half of the time, yeah, fun.

So now i have 150 checks coming from a bank i want to quit, and most likely will after the wedding, in a name that i will only have for the next 3 1/2 months. Great!

Sushi For Santa (So Cute)



Thought we'd drive to Denver on Friday afternoon/evening.



Turned into a bad idea fast!



So we stopped off at Sukie and Wudan's and decided to shovel snow/ build a tower.

And spend the night with friends. (So cute, they sleep exactly the same :)



We set out the next morning. The roads were better but it was so cold the windshield wiper fluid froze. No good!



Angry fist! Driving hunched over trying to see out the small clear area.



After the first time unfreezing them we kept hot water in the car to unfreeze them again.



When we got into wyoming the roads were better but the snow was blowing and visibility sucked.



We avoided getting eaten by the carnivorous semi, just barely.



Bad visibility = accidents = traffic jams = :(



You thought the roads in Utah and Wyoming were bad? This is what they were like in Michigan.

School's Cool

So last semester, that's big right? Totally! Pretty much it will be a useless but pretty easy semester.

I'm finally taking Biology 100, can anyone say "Freshman" 300 crazy, annoying, loud freshman. Not cool. But the class should be a breeze, the benefit of freshman classes is that they're super easy. Easy like take home open book tests. The professor just reads from her power point and then after class she posts them online. No worries the actual exams that aren't open book just come from those. The longest paper is 2 pages double spaced. I think I'll get through that class just fine :)

My other class, English 311, will be a little more demanding but not bad. I'm sure that if i stay on top of the writing assignments I'll do fine in the class.

All in all it should be a nice semester. And then school's over! That's right there's only like 107 days left of my college career! Sweet!

I know i've disappeared.

I promise I'll post sometime. I have to get work back up to speed then I'll get the great pictures of our drive to Denver, Christmas stories and last semester of college celebration stuff up. Promise :)
