New decorations

On Friday my boss walked into the office. Looked at our decorations and told me that they are getting boring and I need to change them. Haha awesome! I said "OK I'll do something 4th of July". My boss told me that the 4th is too soon and instead to do something Pioneer themed for Pioneer day. Again, awesome!

1. It's not in the job description to put decorations up. It's just something we do when we get bored.

2. Those decorations had only been up for a month and she never sees them haha.

So, Friday afternoon we changed the decorations. We found some awesome covered wagon clip art and some sweet oxen. Now our office is all decked out to celebrate Pioneer day. I think it's hilarious. It cracks me up that Pioneer day is a state holiday in Utah. I won't complain about a paid day off though.

House Sitting

House sitting for Carebear and Frik has been fun but I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of glad it's over :) For any who know Duke, he's great but he can get really obnoxious and quite needy. He gave me a guilt trip every day when I had to lock him up to go to work. He's a sweetheart though. I'll be happy to house sit again in the future.

There wasn't much excitement during all the house sitting but David and I did get some Heros watching in. He got me hooked. The show is awesome and I'll be all caught up for the next season!

I took my grandma to lunch on Saturday. It was pretty fun but I didn't feel great. Also, Saturday my hip decided to act up. It makes me so angry! The medicine is supposed to be helping and then I sleep wrong one night and my hip hurts like I haven't been doing NOTHING for the past month or so. I wasn't very happy about it. Today it feels a bit better though and I'm feeling slightly more optimistic.

Finally, I'm so excited for the 4th of July! Yay for America! This will be my first 4th of July celebrated in the states in 2 years so I'm looking forward to the fireworks and fun. It's also going to be great because I'm going to caliente and I'm so excited! Fun fun fun!

Cutest thing ever!

Yesterday I was doing laundry at Carebear's (gotta love free laundry:). While I was waiting for the laundry we were just talking and Carebear was cleaning up the kitchen. Alice woke up from her nap so Carebear was putting her on her back in the carrier. While do this, Alice was laying on Carebear's back and she apparently thought it was hilarious because she let out the cutest laugh/scream of pure joy ever! It was the cutest thing ever! I love that little girl and I'm so lucky that I get to see her almost every day!

Hyena Laugh

I work in an office working with many professors. Working here I have gotten to know little things about the professors. Some have very messy offices, some get really offended if you don't call them Dr. whatever.
For those of you who work with or have worked with me I'm sure that you know exactly who I am talking about when I say there is a professor with the laugh of a Hyena. Seriously she has this silence piercing cackle. You can here her all the way down the hall. When she laughs you think that the most hilarious thing ever must have happened. I can't help but chuckle when she laughs because it is such an intense laugh. It keeps the office interesting, you never know when the cackle will pierce the silence and shake the day up.

Happy Friday!

I've been at work for 2 hours now and not a single other person has come in. We no professors or other secretaries or any questions, just the girl that collects the recycling. Only 8 hours to go :)

The dizziness and nausea of the other day have subsided a bit. The first couple hours after I wake up are still pretty bad but I'm getting used to it. I'm still debating staying on the medication or just stopping now. I only have 2 more weeks on it but I'm not sure I want to feel like this for 2 weeks. The worst thing about it is that I can't really leave work and now I have everyone asking how I feel so I'm trying to learn to hide it. If I don't pretty soon people are going to start thinking I'm pregnant or something. (I am definitely not pregnant!)

Despite the dizziness I finished both of my finals and am now free for the summer. Well just kind of free. I'll probably take an independent study class so that I will have something to do while I'm at work. As slow as work is during the school year it is even slower during the summer. So if I want to keep my sanity I'm going to have to have something else to do.

So I suppose that's it. I'm done with finals, work is boring, and I still feel dizzy and nauseous. Happy Friday!

Stupid Medicine

I'm so dizzy that I'm afraid that i'm going to pass out and i actually feel like i want to throw up. I hate my medicine. I forgot to take it last night so i took it this morning. Bad, bad idea! The worst part about feeling like this is that i have to stay at work and i have to study for a final this afternoon. Not good. What a i really need is to go home and sleep the effects off for a couple hours.

In other news I am super white and burnable. I sat in the sun for lunch yesterday for 20 minutes and now have a pretty decent sunburn on my shoulders and back that was exposed. ridiculous!

Oh well thus is life.

End of semester busyness

First things first: The MRI.

It went fine. Carebear came with me for very much needed moral support and waited in waiting rooms for about 3 hours! The injection was definitely the worst part of the ordeal. I got all dressed up in lovely hospital scrubs and tried to calm myself down. I was doing pretty good until I got into the terrifying room. There was a raised table for me with bright lights and shiny metal. There were also lots of other contraptions that looked scary. There were two nurses in the room and one was preparing something (i assume one of the needles, I didn't look). The other nurse proceeded to tell me what they were going to do to me. She said that they were going to give me a shot to numb my leg. Then they were going to put something in my vein and put the dye in. When she told me that I started freaking out. Well not freaking out really, just crying while trying to not cry. Yes I am a baby I have embraced it. I think I really took the nurses and the doctor off guard with the crying. They were really good though and just talked to me about whatever else so that I wouldn't think about the horror to come. The doctor that did the injections was great. He just told me when he was about to do something but not what he was doing. (I've realized that it's not the needle that scares me so much as the thought of something completely unnatural and foreign in my bloodstream. Gross!)

After that was over I was fine. I wasn't even worried at all about the actual MRI. They wheeled me to the MRI area. (It was amusing being in a wheelchair. They don't like you to move the dye around.) My MRI was fine. It lasted 50 minutes and was sounded like a tripped out video game. It's really loud and there are a bunch of different sounds that sound like video game sounds. For a while it sounded like a machine gun, then a duck, then some space sounds. Funny huh? I kept my eyes closed so that I wouldn't get claustrophobic and I was fine. The hardest part about the MRI was not being able to move for that long. Keeping my arms above my head for 50 minutes was especially annoying.

After that it was done. Carebear and I went to lunch and then I went to class and back to work. My thigh was numb for quite a few hours, which was weird, and I had the blue disinfectant still on my leg from the injection, but other than that I was fine. I'll find out in a few weeks what they found on the MRI. I have decided though that if they don't find anything I'm done with tests. It is just not that big of a problem to spend so much time and money trying to figure it out. If they don't know what it is and can't fix it then I'll just never run again. I most definitely will rock climb because that doesn't hurt it much.

In other news: End of semester blues :(

I had a wonderful weekend. I went to my friend's garage sale with Carebear and got some great things. Then we tried to see some more sales but almost everything had packed up. I took a short nap at Carebear's then watched Bucket List. It was really really good! Made me cry but what doesn't really? The rest of the day was spent revising a paper, swimming, and eating dinner. (Note: I did not work on the paper that I should have started:) Sunday was a lot busier than I had anticipated. I went to church then had ward council then went visiting teaching then got visit taught then went to Carebears to make banana bread then went and got dinner in the oven then went to visit Brooke and cute little Ryan, then got David and had dinner and relaxed a bit by watching some MANEATERS on Animal Planet. (If that sentence sounded busy and drawn out that's because that's how the day was.) I was a great day and I enjoyed it but again didn't start my paper at all. Oops!

Now I'm at work and am taking a break from working on said paper :) It shouldn't be too bad it's just 6 pages and I have plenty of notes for it. The problem is that I just don't feel like writing it.

I'll be busy for 4 more days and then it's over. Class will be done and finals will be history. The summer will be mine (before 8am and after 5pm)!

More Hip Drama

This picture makes me feel sick!

I'm OK with this picture.
The report on my appointment with the hip specialist...

Friday was a very traumatic day for me. I went to the appointment and to start the doctor was an hour late. Not a good omen. When I eventually got in he started with the good news. The X-ray doesn't show any fractures, arthritis, or tumors, all very good news. Then he went on to do some little tests where he would move my leg one way and then another to see if it hurt. From those tests he came up with his two hypotheses:

1. The part that hurts on the back side is just inflammation. He gave me a different anti-inflammatory (it cost $60!) which, hopefully will work. If it doesn't work then I have to get a nasty steroid shot.

2. The part that hurts in the front is torn cartilage. I am getting an MRI on Friday to make sure that this is really the problem. For that I have to get a shot in my hip that will put the dye in for the MRI, not fun. If the MRI shows that the cartilage is fixing itself (i don't know how it could do that but whatever) then I'm fine. If it's not then I'll have to get surgery to fix it.

The effect that this had on me was not good. For those of you who don't know my medical phobias here are a few... I hate needles! I am terrified of them. Just thinking about getting those shots makes my stomach sick. I dislike medicine; i try not to take it if i don't have to. The anti-inflammatory has already made me sick (dizzy and nauseous) and I'm not looking forward to the next month of feeling like I'm pregnant. Lastly, and this isn't really a phobia but a result that i hate, i am again restricted to doing practically nothing. The doctor said "If it hurts at all don't do it." I was thinking, OK I guess I'll just lay in bed all day since it is irritating just to walk to school. Right. But I am restricted from climbing now and I'm very not happy about it. Oh well. I am going to do a lot of swimming since that is the only thing that doesn't irritate it at all.

I kept it together through the whole appointment but when i was out of there i called my mom and just broke down. I gave her a good scare with my dramatics :) Then I went and cried and was ridiculously irrational about it all to David. He's great!

The weekend did, however, improve. We headed up to West Valley for the chicken wing eating, game playing, sleepover extravaganza. It was awesome! Happy birthday Wudan!

Excitement!

Wednesday was an interesting day. It started off fine. I went to run a couple errands during work in the rain, it was nice. On the way back to work I stopped in the bathroom and something terrible happened...I dropped my phone in the toilet. So sad and so hilarious all at the same time. So I did my best to salvage my phone but I knew pretty much from the moment it came out of the toilet that it was done for. I dried it off and let it dry out a bit but it didn't help. When I put the battery in it it would just vibrate constantly and didn't access my phonebook or anything. So I got a new phone that night. I have actually been wanting a new phone but wouldn't buy it for myself so this was the perfect excuse. I really like the one I got. It's nice. So if you need a new phone just drop your phone in the toilet! :)

Yesterday was exciting as well. I came into work at 8 and my very pregnant (5 days from her due date) was not there. She had a beautiful baby boy! Congrats Brooke and Zach! That, in and of itself, was exciting but the implications for me were pretty exciting too. Since Brooke is now a mom full time I start to be the full time secretary. I'm pretty excited for my first "real" job. I will get decent pay (for a single person) and benefits. It may be a little boring sometimes but it will be good. And the best part is that I will get to save most of the money I make so that I can buy a house someday! Yay for stability haha :)

Doctor's Note?!

The hip saga continues....

Last week I went to my physical therapy appointment and told the doctor that i wanted to get an X-ray because the exercises weren't really helping. I was nervous that he would give me a hard time about it but I was lucky and he didn't. He just got my appointment made with the orthopedic doctor and I got my X-rays that day.

My appointment with the orthopedic doctor was (or was supposed to be) on Monday. As I was leaving work I heard my phone buzzing. I picked it up and it was a receptionist from the Health Center. She told me that she needed to change my appointment to Friday at 12:40 to meet with the hip specialist. I told her that that won't work because I have class at 1. She told me that they can write me a note. Really?! I'm not in middle school. I'm not worried about getting expelled for missing class; I'm worried about missing important stuff and not doing well on the final. Oh well whatever, I'll get the notes from someone in class. I didn't explain any of this to the receptionist, who I'm sure has teenagers and thinks that she did my a huge favor, I just said OK I'll be there on Friday.

Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is wrong with me then. If not I think that I'm just going to give up and live with the pain. I don't know what else to do. And, just as a side note, my hip hasn't hurt at all since I made the appointment and I'm sure it won't start hurting again until the day after my appointment. Figures.
