2 weeks

It's been 2 weeks. We're getting used to this little guy and i think he's getting pretty used to us. He's a pretty good baby. He likes tummy time. He eats really well. He sleeps pretty well. He doesn't cry much. And he's just so sweet and cute!

We both had our two week appointments yesterday. Isaac has gained nearly 1 pound since we left the hospital, putting him at 7lbs 8 oz. He also grew a half inch, putting him at 20 in. He's doing great!

He's also hitting a growth spurt. Ate for a good 2 hours this morning, was awake for 2.5 hours and now is passed out.

Pooping face, yes i took a picture for embarrassing him later in life :)

I'm also doing well. Everything is healing how it should and I've lost 19lbs so far. I suspect that the 13lbs that wasn't him was all water weight. The picture above is how swollen my feet were a few days before the birth and the picture below is my feet two weeks after.

I never thought i would think my feet are sexy but dang those are some nice looking feet :)

We've taken a few walks with him. It's been kind of hard with him not really having a schedule yet and not wanting to take him out when it's super hot but i think we're figuring it out.

PS doesn't his had look extremely huge in that picture? I never noticed until i was looking at it just now. Does he have a future in Basketball?

Bath time and other cute ones :)

He really liked the hooded towels, especially after his traumatic bath experience.

Ray Ray wouldn't come into the bathroom until he heard the baby screaming. He hates baths too. But once he heard Isaac he had to run in and see what was going on.

We didn't get a picture of his extreme surprise and terror about the bath, maybe next time. He went back and forth between being terrified and kind of content.

He slept with his hand behind his head for several hours yesterday.

He likes to sleep on his side. That was one of the first times that he actually fell asleep in his crib. It was short lived but progress. Last night he slept in the crib for an hour even through tons of fireworks and firecrackers that were set off by the neighbors across the street. Maybe soon we can get him to sleep in the crib a little at night.

He was loving Aunt Carolyn the other day. He is such a cuddly little guy.

Happy 4th of July! Hope your day is great!

Warning Mommy Blogger...

Cute little smiles.

Being mesmerized by the ceiling fan. He loves them. We have them in every room and he just stares at him.

He really hates diaper changes.

This is where he sleeps if he's not in our arms.

So I'm now a mommy blogger, what can i say. The grandparents are far away and have to see what's going on. Someday when i start sewing again I'll at least have some craft stuff interspersed with baby stuff. Until then, skip it if you're not interested my feelings won't be hurt :)

Everyone loves him

Can you blame them?

Alice love him.

Ray Ray loves loves loves him!

Aunt Bridget love him!

Now that we've been home for a few days i think we're all getting used to each other. The first night was rough. Good thing grandma was here to help! The second night was not quite as bad. We have a great sleeper as long as he's being held; once we set him down he's awake. So we tried to get him comfy alone the second night. That didn't work and eventually i just slept with him on the couch. So for night three we said we'll just sleep with him on the couch. Then we'll get some sleep. Once he's more comfortable at home then we'll try teaching him how to sleep somewhere other than our arms. I've learned in these past few days that the best advice i could have gotten while pregnant about parenting would have been to never say never. Didn't really want to use a pacifier, did. Really didn't want to hold him all night, did. But really whatever works and gives us the most sleep is the best thing right now. I'm sure he won't be worse for it. We're learning a lot.

Isaac Xavier

Dad has already started playing games with his boy!

How cute is that?!

A few hours after the hard part.

6lbs 11 oz
19.5 inches

He was a bit of a surprise and he changed all our plans. Didn't think we'd end up having a baby yesterday but after our appointment it was decided that inducing would be the best option. I wasn't feeling him as much and when the did the non-stress test my fluid levels were a little low. So I started Pitocin at 11:30 am, made it until 10:30pm naturally. It was no longer worth it to me to try natural when at 9:30 i was only dilated to a 4 and the contractions were 2 minutes apart and intense. Got an epidural and relaxed the last few hours. Proud i made it as long as i did naturally on a super high dose of Pitocin and totally OK with the decision to give up that dream for this time! Grandma O and Aunts arrived just in time for the pushing and delivery. I pushed 50 minutes and then had this sweet baby! I love him. So does dad and grandma and aunts etc.

Quilt for my Aunt.

Front

Back

Huge feet and this was not after a day of travel. I would love to be able to see my ankles again, oh and see a cute little baby too.

So this quilt was a big first for me in that it was the first time i have ever free motion quilted. I think it turned out pretty good for my first time. There are plenty of mistakes and loads of room for improvement but just completing one quilt has made me feel more confident to try again. Aunt Becky, i hope you love it despite the mistakes. And PS it's pretty big so you can probably cuddle with about your whole family under it :)
