1!

1 year ago we were here.

Yesterday was our anniversary. David got me these flowers. Then we went to The Melting Pot. It was very fun.

Year of milestones:

• Graduation
• Real Jobs
• Move cities (although not states and only an hour away so I'm not sure if it really counts)
• Bought a house
• Worked on the house (paint, back splash(see the other blog) gaining some furniture etc.)
• Hosted Thanksgiving
• Got a dog
• Garden!

Year of travel:

• Moab 3x (honeymoon, raft for the cure, 4th of July)
• Denver 2x (reception, new years)
• Michigan (reception)
• Chicago (honeymoon)
• Boston (lovely roommates wedding)
• Disneyland/LA (valentines/for fun)
• Hawaii (2nd honeymoon/fun)
  

We had a lovely year together. We really haven't had too much to complain about. We still get along great. We still are very much in love and are just loving our life together.

In the plans for next year (really there's not many more major milestones for us to accomplish, at least not for many years so we're just focusing on some small things):

• Put in hardwood and tile on our main level
• Finish the basement
• Spice up the bathrooms with some paint.

Travel plans:

• St. Louis tomorrow (for an awesome former roommates wedding)
• Denver (in a few weeks)
• Michigan (holidays)
• Sacramento/redwoods (not sure when. we'll just make a long weekend of it. I've been dying to see the redwoods for some time now so we'll make it happen this year.)
• Europe (perhaps, we'll see what deals we find)
• Moab (probably. it wouldn't be a summer if we didn't go.)
• Zion's (if we can fit it in)

And I'm sure we'll find ways to have much fun no matter what we do.

Recently...

We have been enjoying a beautiful warm spring. This past weekend it has be 70+ degrees and we have used it to work in our garden. We planted our tomatoes and pepper plants. I read up a little on gardening and it said to plant tomatoes and peppers about 2 weeks before the last frost date so we're trying it out. Hopefully it works out well.

Mustache March...

Every year at David's work they do what they call mustache march. Who ever wants to participate grows their beard out for the whole month, or longer (one guy grew his out the whole year) in preparation. Then the last day of the month they shave it into a weird, creepy, hilarious mustache. They have different categories and there are prizes for the best/creepiest/most original mustaches. David participated.

David shaved his beard into this.

It was pretty cool. He didn't win any prizes but he got some compliments and had a fun lunch hour with the rest of the mustache men.


And we got a winter storm a couple days ago. It was nice.

Change sometimes isn't good...

Last week we were here. Hawaii!

It was windy but wonderful.

Second Honeymoon.


We went to see the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Beautiful Canyon. Beautiful Waterfall.

Hiked to a waterfall in the Canyon.

Tried to shelter ourselves from the wind at times. There were winds of 25-30 mph the whole time we were there.

We went to a Luau

Met a chicken family.

Watched the sunrise.

Watched waves crash.

Went on the most beautiful hike I've ever been on.

Chilled with a seal on the beach.

Went snorkeling 4 times. It was my first time snorkeling and i loved it! We went to three different beaches and we loved them all for different reasons. It was so cool to see so many different fish. We saw fish bigger than our head and as tiny as a fingernail. we saw an eel and sea urchins. It was awesome. I would recommend it to anyone.

It also rained at least once a day so we saw plenty of rainbows.

Spouting horn. We saw this on our last day there. It was cool. A hole that the waves have carved out of the rock. When the waves are big it sends a burst of water like this.

Wore sandals the whole time. Wonderful.

We ended our trip with one last sunset and then headed to the airport.

Where they had this sign. You can't bring any fruit but pineapple. Apparently because the "mainland doesn't want Hawaii's fruit flies." (according to the checkpoint guard) David had an Asian pear and they made us eat it before we went through the check point. Do they not realize that the "mainland" imports Asian pears and all the other fruit they're keeping us from bringing? And why is a pineapple the exception to the stupid rule? Lame.

So we spent five days in wonderful Hawaii and then came back to a snowstorm this weekend. Lame. I'm ready for spring. Oh and we both have gotten the stomach flu this week. It hit David the day we got back and then hit me Friday. So not cool. I've developed a new appreciation for food. This stomach flu is not the usual one where you don't feel hungry as long as you're sick. I haven't been able to eat hardly anything and I've been hungry every second. It's horrible. David and i have been talking about all the food we're going to eat when we're better almost non-stop for the past couple days. David is mostly better now and i hope I'm getting close to better. I can't handle it much longer. So yes sometimes change isn't the best thing. From paradise to snow: not great. From healthy to sick: horrible. But we did have a wonderful vacation before we got knocked to the ground this week.

And as always we have this cute doggie to come back to. Today i stayed home from church because my stomach was not feeling up to it. While i was home Ray Ray stuck his head through the cat door we have to the basement (compliments of the previous owner) and started barking at some unseen thing downstairs. He's afraid of the basement so of course there's no way he would actually go all the way through the hole to go really investigate; it's hard enough to get him to come down when we're down there too. Silly Ray Ray.

Grilled cheese (i ate one this afternoon. i just couldn't take the hunger anymore i was starting to get all cranky with David so i thought screw it. It very well may be the death of me tonight and tomorrow but it took the edge off the hunger tonight. Grilled cheese i love you. You saved my life today!)

Valentines Day Weekend Extravaganza!!!

We went to Disney world with a bunch of friends.

We rode rides.

We were cute.

We were dorks.

We went to see the tarpits in LA. Quite possibly our favorite part of the trip. A must see if you're in the LA area.

The tar would just come up out of the grass in random spots. The had orange cones over most spots but they hadn't found this one yet so david played with it.

Seal Beach for sunset. A perfect way to end the day.

The water was pretty cold but it was still fun to wade.

We had a fabulous weekend full of excitement and fun site seeing. David and i have decided that we really like the long weekend trips we take. In 3 days you can really see a lot. Next year we plan to take a long weekend trip to see the Redwoods. I love traveling. The world is an awesome place!
