The past couple weeks have been quite a blur and we had so much fun in our Christmas travels that I neglected to blog Isaac's six month mark and his first Christmas so here I am playing catch up.
A couple of days before we left town Isaac came down with his first really bad cold. That actually made the drive go pretty well since he needed the sleep. He was pretty much in a haze for his 6 month mark. We didn't do anything too special. We held him for naps (because he would scream if we didn't) and we just had a low key cuddly day.
He now weighs 17 lbs 6 oz. He's a pretty big guy. He's getting really good at eating solid foods and has moved on from puree to little chunks of food now. While we were in Denver we gave him rice for the first time and he LOVES it. We couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough. I love when he finds a food that he really loves. We gave him hamburger and noodles tonight and he loved that too.
While we were in Denver it seemed like he changed everyday. When we got there he was sitting OK but I had to be behind him because he fell pretty easily. Now he is a pro sitter. He still has the occasional tumble but I can be sitting not right behind him and he does just fine. It was amazing to watch him figure out that he can use his hands to balance himself as he leans to reach something. He also seems to have become a much more content baby than he has been. It must be figuring out the sitting or something that has helped him realize that life isn't that miserable and that he can be happy. I feel like maybe things will get a little better from here on out. I guess time will tell.
While in Denver he also got to be pals with so many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. It was wonderful to be around family! Thank Melissa for watching him so that we could have a date! And thanks for the awesome massage! Having so much support and friendship made me really, really want to move to Denver. I love our home and ward and David loves his job now but in a few years I could definitely see us in Denver. We had an awesome time!
So 2011 was a pretty crazy year for us with having a baby and a super needy baby at that! It's taken a lot of patience, tears, smiles, and laughs to get to know our little guy and help him feel comfortable. I know that 2012 will bring a whole new world of learning and growing but I'm hoping that things are starting to get a little easier with Isaac. Despite his crankiness and neediness I wouldn't trade the past 6 months with him. I thinks he's a pretty amazing little man and I'm excited to help him learn and grow into a more amazing big man.

Dislikes:
- Not being able to do something he wants to do (aka crawling)
- Sleeping unbundled although we are working on it and he's getting a little better everyday. Hopefully he'll be weaned from the swaddle by the time we go to Michigan at the end of the month!

Having him here was such a blessing! And I've noticed he is using his arms so much more, too. Growing each day and just becoming almost toddler-like. Wow, you forget how much they change until you're around them again. Thanks so much for coming, sweetie!
